Expanded retail experience focusing on local vendors launches for the gift-giving season
Vancouver, B.C. (November 24, 2020): For the first time, The Polygon Gallery, in North Vancouver’s Shipyards District, has transformed its main floor into a beautifully decorated and carefully curated, holiday shopping destination. Open Wednesday to Sunday, until January 3, 2021, The Holiday Shop offers a stellar line-up of original, design-focused gift selections created by independent, local makers, and artists.
Recognizing that holiday markets are on hold this year, The Polygon is in the unique position to showcase a larger selection of local, artisan, and hard-to-find products in its space within the existing Polygon Shop. Part of this retail expansion includes a pop-up experience by Little Mountain Shop, a much-loved Mount Pleasant community space that closed in June due to COVID-19. The pop-up store will spotlight local, women-led vendors and is one of the limited opportunities for Vancouverites to locate products by these sought-after makers during the holiday season.
“Local Practice Architecture is proud to support the Little Mountain Shop’s Annual Holiday Pop-Up this year,” says Matthew Woodruff, Principal. “With their commitment to supporting local makers of all sorts, The Polygon Gallery is doing a wonderful job at highlighting the visual culture of our collective home on the Salish Sea.”
The Holiday Shop – now open, welcoming in-person and online shoppers
Design-forward, well-made, exclusive, you-can’t-get-this-just-anywhere items, have been the mainstay of the carefully-selected gift collection at The Polygon Shop since its grand opening. Homeware, jewelry, apparel, bags, books, prints, puzzles, crafts, and gifts created by makers local to Vancouver, the North Shore, and Canada, sit alongside international brands and collectives. The Holiday Shop focuses on little luxuries, self-care and design-focused brands. The now expanded shop is carrying a fresh selection of merchandise along with new brands that launched during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Polygon’s acclaimed Bookstore, which has been moved to the building’s lobby for this holiday shopping event, showcases rare international photobooks and gallery publications. All purchases help support the Gallery’s artistic and educational programming.
Little Mountain Shop’s Annual Holiday Pop-Up – open December 2 to 27
For the first time, Little Mountain Shop’s Annual Holiday Pop-Up will be held at The Polygon Gallery. This is a new partnership, and the first collaboration of its kind, for Natasha Neale owner of Little Mountain Shop, a well-loved Vancouver-based business. Little Mountain Shop’s Annual Holiday Pop-Up features an all Canadian, mostly-local, women-led, vendor lineup. Featured brands include Homecoming Candles, Droplet Home Goods, Lover’s Tempo, Lisa Warren Ceramics, Paper Label, Kunye, Warren Steven Scott and more. Little Mountain Shop values working with BIPOC businesses and mandates a commitment to showcasing Black, Indigenous, and People of Colour owned brands.
Curated Gift Boxes
Whether shopping for family or friends, or looking to show appreciation to colleagues, consider having The Polygon’s retail concierge create a custom gift box of local favourites from The Holiday Shop’s large collection of homeware, jewelry, books, candles, apparel, and gifts. With large parties cancelled, this is a creative and thoughtful way to spoil colleagues and clients while celebrating the end of a very difficult year. The retail concierge can suggest personalized items, selected to show a real appreciation for every individual. Each box includes a “Member for a Day” pass and is beautifully custom wrapped. Gift boxes can range from $50-$250.
Gift Cards
Gift cards of any denomination from The Holiday Shop and Bookstore may be custom wrapped, mailed, or paired with a gift from the holiday store.
